In recent years, sustainable fashion has gained relevance as a tool to combat the environmental and social impact generated by the textile industry. Collaboration between academia, industry, and environmental organizations is key to transforming this sector. According to the CYD Foundation, some entities, such as the United Nations Alliance for Sustainable Fashion and Inditex, highlight that it is essential to address environmental and social challenges.

Universities in Argentina and Chile have begun to incorporate subjects on sustainability, circular economy, and ethical design. This change responds to the interest of consumers and government requirements that seek products with less environmental impact

One of the most outstanding actors is Universo MOLA, a platform that promotes ethical fashion in Latin America. Universo MOLA has established alliances with institutions such as IED (Istituto Europeo di Design), ISEM Fashion Business School in Spain, and the Consulate of Colombia in London. Mola Talks, educational conferences, bring students and professionals closer to sustainable fashion trends and solutions.

In addition, Universo MOLA reinforces its commitment to education through its Mola Educa initiative. This digital platform offers fashion reports, trend studies, and articles that raise community awareness about textile sustainability.

Initiatives such as the Sustainable Design program of the University of Buenos Aires promote research and the creation of projects with a lower carbon footprint. These proposals also promote social inclusion through the rescue of artisanal techniques.

Consolidating these efforts as an integral part of the lesson plans remains a challenge, but these collaborations bring us closer to systemic change faster.

Sustainable fashion also empowers vulnerable communities through textile cooperatives and the use of indigenous fibers. This model is committed to environmental and economic justice, where traditional knowledge becomes the pillar of the new industry.

Promoting higher education in Latin America is an engine of change that seeks to generate a lower impact on the planet and improve the quality of life of communities.
