On April 18, MOLA Fashion Day came home to Montevideo, Uruguay, home of the Entre Soles y Lunas Foundation. As is known, the international movement of Latin American sustainable fashion, Universo MOLA, a program of this foundation, is responsible for creating training spaces for brands, where they involve business tools for fashion impact, and especially focused on regeneration points, fashion communication and more.
On this occasion, the edition of MOLA Fashion Day Uruguay was held at the facilities of the Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Montevideo, and the day began with the first presentation by Doris Helena Rojas, director of the Entre Soles y Lunas Foundation who exposed with the attendees her approach to regeneration; in fact, Lia Fernandez creator of Décima Casa, one of the brands participating in the edition, shared on her social networks one of the phrases that the director emphasized: "We are resisting something unsustainable and we need to go back to the root, we need to remake ourselves and start repairing".
Next, Gabriela Pedranti, communicator and teacher, representative of the Istituto Europeo di Design in the framework of the inter-institutional agreement with Universo MOLA, participated in the Webinar entitled: "Communication and marketing for Circular Fashion". Where it was emphasized that, "From design, as from communication we have the great power to educate", likewise, "To be a good communicator/designer, you have to be curious and have references. And above all, to know what we are talking about. One cannot communicate what one does not understand".
Continuing with the line of Fashion Communication, Fedra Mauricci from Back in Fashion, a Communication and Sustainability Consultant, expressed that one of the important points to communicate is about: Who is today's consumer? And what are the wishes they have?
And of course, we could not miss the presentations by the director of the Universo MOLA program, Valentina Suarez, who addressed the topic of the impact fashion business model, and the different canvases of the business model were presented. On the other hand, when it was time for Pitch work, the different participating brands have their presentation, as is the case of the venture called Plutonia, which is based on the Slow Fashion and upcycling model.
This moment of pitch presentation had the objective of granting both partial and full scholarships to be able to participate in Universo MOLA Fashion Week in the following edition. On this occasion, of the 10 participating brands, Tenaz, Plutonia, Campestre Chic, Rissolini, Décima Casa, Quetza, Version and Renata Correa, were the winners of the half scholarships. As far as the FK Textil brand is concerned, it managed to obtain the full scholarship, now the brand will be part of Universo MOLA Fashion Week 2025. Flor Delfino, a plastic, and textile Artist, is the creator of the FK Textil brand, an initiative focused on revitalizing the ancestral art of loom weaving, creating unique pieces that fuse tradition with contemporary art. They are also committed to building lasting pieces, contributing to the economic and social development of the community, particularly, promoting a conscious and environmentally friendly lifestyle.
In the words of Flor Delfino, she is very happy that Universo MOLA has allowed her to participate in Universo MOLA Fashion Week 2025, which encourages her to develop her project and deploy all her creative potential to show her designs and creations. She also commented: “It is a privilege to have this scholarship, it fills me with enthusiasm and energy to move forward with my dreams. Thank you Universo MOLA, for believing in me and my work!”
It is undoubtedly gratifying for Universo Mola and the Entre Soles y Lunas Foundation to learn about Latin American talent through each edition, but mostly that various ventures and brands are willing to be part of sustainability.
