The international event known as Innovation Lab has arrived in Argentina to reflect and raise awareness about fashion and sustainable beauty. In collaboration with the Fontela company, Marie Claire organized this Think Tank, bringing together researchers and professionals to examine and question the role of innovation in various areas related to sustainability.
Last Wednesday, August 23, 2023, the SLS hotel in Puerto Madero, Buenos Aires, served as the meeting point that for women leaders and prominent figures from various sectors of the Latin American sustainable industry. They gathered in front of an audience comprising special guests and influencers. The speakers focused on several key topics during their talk, including innovation, commitment to the planet, ethical fashion, upcycling, the ecological transition, and animal welfare.
During this summit, Fernando Gomez Dossena, Director of Marie Claire magazine, played the role of moderator, guiding the discussions that were divided into two major panel sessions. The day began with a conference entitled “The Path To Sustainable Beauty”, which aimed to enhance an ethical and commitment industry. Mercedes Vázquez, Natura Reputation and Corporate Communication Manager, provided her perspective on the power of the industry as a positive change factor through practices in line with sustainability. Brenda Bianquet, L’Oréal Argentina Corporate Communication, Sustainability, and Public Affairs CCO, proposed an analysis on how one of the main beauty companies succeeded in integrating sustainability into its mission and operations.
Angelica Trujillo, Brand Manager of Adolfo Dominguez Argentina, presented a concrete vision of how companies are capable of reconfiguring their parameters and their course towards a better and more responsible future. Finally, María Laura Gutiérrez, CONICET biologist and researcher, brought a scientific view, offering sound data on environmental challenges and the urgency of addressing them.
In closing, the second and last space of the day, entitled “Redefinir el futuro de la industria de la moda” took place. Here were highlighted the essential bases for a comprehensive transformation in the textile industry. Commerce, equitable production, reduction of carbon emissions, collaborative work, and innovation were the main topic of this debate.
Paulina Tapia, Karün Eyewear Communicator from Chile, shared her experience on how brands can integrate responsible practices throughout their value chain. Alejandra Gougy, AMSOAR director and Cosecha Vintage designer, had a significant participation since she provided a vision as a sustainable fashion advocate and creator. In addition, Mauro Pessoa, Designer and Founder of de Mauro Pessoa of Autor Oficio Ancestral, together with Mara Coleoni from Be Humano stood out the relevance of innovation and the imminent need to minimize the environmental impact in the production process.
Innovation Lab Argentina has been a highly enriching space for exchange, where have identified, through expert voices, the sustainability challenges and opportunities in the fashion and beauty industries. It is truly valuable that there are more and more events of this nature that are helping to promote awareness and action for a more sustainable and responsible world.
