Undoubtedly, sustainable alternatives are becoming part of a key scenario in the fashion industry, and it is not new that a lot of companies, businesses, and brands are becoming involved and committed to the environment and the ethical and responsible manufacturing of their products.
Animal leather substitution is one of the most complex and biggest challenges in the manufacturing of sustainable garments created from scratch. Fibers have been known to come from plants such as cactus, fruits such as bananas, and even innovations created from recycled plastics and textiles.
A new option has been added to the industry: tomatoes. Yes, just as you read, a 100% vegan leather has been created with tomatoes, and the company India Bioleather is responsible for this wonderful discovery.

This new material, obtained from tomato skin, is 100% biodegradable, ecologic, hypoallergenic, and free of plastics and chemical products harmful to humans and the environment.
Other characteristics this discovery presents are its durability, breathability and versatility, taking into account the wide range of colors and finishes it manages.
The company says that the manufacturing of this vegan leather is done with a patented process that begins with the extraction of a key element from tomato skin called lycopene and is later combined with other materials of plant origin. The products they make range from bags and shoes to clothing.
The sustainability world is full of surprises, creativity, and innovation. That is why we want to invite you to be part of that percentage that is growing more and more, and from your place, you can contribute your two cents to this industry we love so much and want to see succeed through responsibility, ethics, and cultural, social, economic, environmental and spiritual commitment.
